From 1 to 5 October, the Municipality of Torres Novas will promote the 39th edition of the National Nuts and Dried Fruits Fair, taking place in Praça 5 de Outubro and Praça dos Claras, in the heart of the city’s historic centre.
Recognised as the “capital of nuts and dried fruits”, Torres Novas once again hosts an event that celebrates a sector deeply rooted in the municipality’s traditions, culture and identity. Over five days, the fair will bring together exhibitors of nuts, dried fruits and their derivatives, handicrafts, food products and catering, as well as a varied entertainment programme for all ages.
While preserving its traditional character, the National Nuts and Dried Fruits Fair also places a strong emphasis on innovation and quality. The event aims to promote the sector’s differentiation and enhancement, preserve and pass on the knowledge and flavours associated with nuts and dried fruits, and engage both the local community and visitors.
The initiative’s main objectives include promoting and enhancing the nuts and dried fruits sector, creating ethnographic moments representative of the local rural culture, establishing the Torres Novas black fig as a distinctive product and symbol of local identity, and preserving the knowledge, traditions and flavours associated with this heritage.
The fair also helps to strengthen Torres Novas as a venue for nationally recognised events, promoting local traditions, culture and heritage while offering opportunities for socialising and entertainment in the city’s historic centre.
Admission is free.
