Claire Simon’s new film takes us inside a state primary school on the outskirts of Paris.
Between the playground and the classrooms, we observe the daily interactions between teachers and pupils, along with their small dramas and triumphs.
In a tribute to one of the noblest professions, undermined by the underfunding of the French education system, the documentary filmmaker shows how teachers do more than teach: they nurture these children.
Without intervening, but with empathy and gentleness, “Learning” reveals life at its rawest and most authentic.
