Exhibition “In Search of Gesture” by Carlos Veríssimo and Billy Verdasca

“In Search of Gesture” is a photographic and audiovisual exhibition that takes everyday gestures and bodily techniques as its starting point to reveal ways of doing, knowledge and ways of being that express each place’s local cultural identity.

Through the collection and recording of images within communities, the project celebrates the gestures of those who inhabit these places, viewing the body as a site for passing on memory, identity and knowledge.

Through photography and audiovisual work, Carlos Veríssimo and Billy Verdasca create a sensitive portrait of communities through the stories told by hands, bodies and movements, bringing to light a dimension of culture embedded in everyday life and practice.
