Archaeology Fieldwork Weeks

From 22 June 2026 to 31 July 2026

As in previous years, the Archaeology Fieldwork Weeks will take place during June and July at Villa Cardílio, as part of the project “Villa Cardílio and the Romanisation of the Almonda River Basin.”

This initiative is aimed at the Torres Novas community, with a particular focus on young people aged 14 and over, encouraging their involvement in the preservation and promotion of the local archaeological heritage.

The project seeks to provide a meaningful and rewarding activity during the school holidays, offering participants practical experience in archaeology and an opportunity to learn about the work carried out at Villa Cardílio. Activities will take place in the mornings, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The fieldwork weeks will be held on the following dates:

  • 22–26 June
  • 29 June–3 July
  • 6–10 July
  • 13–17 July
  • 20–24 July
  • 27–31 July

Participation is free of charge, and the Municipality will provide personal accident insurance for all volunteers.

Participants may register for more than one fieldwork week, provided that the maximum number of participants per week—six volunteers—has not been reached.

At the end of the programme, participants will receive a certificate of participation.
