Inglês AVITA Discussion Series – Dating Violence: Recognising the Signs and Challenging Myths

14 November 2026, from 15:30 to 17:30

On 14 November, the Gustavo Pinto Lopes Municipal Library in Torres Novas hosts the first session of the AVITA – Life, Equality, Tolerance and Autonomy discussion series, dedicated to “Dating Violence: Recognising the Signs and Challenging Myths”.

The session will feature psychologist Soraia Vieira and speakers Helena Caetano, Helena Pinto, Marta Tomé and Sandra Betina, who oversees Espaço M and will open the discussion.

The initiative aims to encourage reflection and raise awareness of dating violence, helping participants recognise warning signs, challenge myths and prevent violent behaviour in intimate relationships.

This session launches a discussion series organised by the Gustavo Pinto Lopes Municipal Library, running from November 2026 to November 2027, focused on reflection and awareness towards ending violence against women.

Throughout the series, other topics will be addressed, including psychological abuse, digital violence, economic dependence, the impact of violence on families and communities, and the role of the arts in challenging stereotypes and championing women’s rights.

As part of efforts to promote equality and combat violence against women, the initiative marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, observed annually on 25 November, and aims to help build a more informed, aware and engaged community.

Admission is free and open to all.
