Critical Thinking Course with José Maria Pimentel

From 30 May 2026 to 28 November 2026

The Gustavo Pinto Lopes Municipal Library will host a Critical Thinking Course between May and November, led by José Maria Pimentel and open to the general public.

In a context marked by an abundance of information and the growing influence of artificial intelligence, this course aims to develop essential skills for analysing, questioning and making informed decisions.

The course will take place across three sessions, with the following topics and dates:

30 May | 2:30 p.m. | Arguing with Logic

26 September | 4:00 p.m. | Avoiding Misinformation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

28 November | 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. | Explaining the World Like a Scientist

28 November | 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. | Making Decisions in an Uncertain World

Throughout these dynamic and accessible sessions, participants will explore tools and methodologies related to logic and argumentation, scientific thinking, statistical literacy, and decision-making, with practical applications to everyday challenges.

José Maria Pimentel is a researcher in political economy, university lecturer and specialist in critical thinking applied to decision-making. He is also the creator of the podcast 45 Graus and author of the book Política a 45 Graus (Bertrand).
