“Vila” Digital Neighbourhood updates its Governance Bodies

May 29th, 2026

On 26 May, the meeting to update the composition of the governance bodies of the “Vila” Digital Neighbourhood took place in the Council Chamber of Torres Novas Town Hall.

The session was attended by representatives of the entities that make up the consortium responsible for the project — Torres Novas Municipality, NERSANT – Business Association of the Santarém Region, and ADIRN – Association for the Integrated Development of Ribatejo Norte.

During the meeting, the new composition of the project’s governance bodies was validated, formalised and signed, namely the General Assembly, Supervisory Board, Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Advisory Committee, ensuring the continued monitoring and management of this strategic initiative for the historic centre of Torres Novas.

All appointed representatives formally accepted their positions, reaffirming the commitment of the partner entities to achieving the objectives of the “Vila” Digital Neighbourhood and ensuring the continuity of the work developed under the project.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to present an update on the project, allowing representatives of the partner entities to review its progress and the results achieved to date.

The project is currently at a very advanced stage of implementation, with more than 90% of the planned actions completed. Investments already concluded or in the final stages of implementation include the marketplace vila.torresnovas.pt, smart urban furniture, digital signage, interactive information kiosks, a public Wi-Fi network, a geoanalytics system, smart lockers, parking monitoring, augmented reality and virtual tour solutions, as well as a common visual identity for participating businesses.

Key project indicators were also presented. The initiative currently includes around 230 participating businesses, more than 800 products available online and a digital reach exceeding 1.4 million views, demonstrating its impact and strong engagement within the local business community.

Funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), the “Vila” Digital Neighbourhood represents an investment of over €713,000 and has established itself as a flagship urban and digital modernisation project, contributing to making the historic centre of Torres Novas more competitive, innovative, sustainable and attractive to residents, visitors and investors.
