Torres Novas wins Municipality of the Year Award for the “Vila” Digital Commercial Neighbourhood.

The Municipality of Torres Novas has received the Municipality of the Year Award – Grupo Mosqueteiros, in the Digitalisation of Local Businesses category, for its “Vila” Digital Commercial Neighbourhood project.

The distinction was awarded at the seventh edition of the awards, organised in partnership with the newspaper ECO. The ceremony took place on 7 October at the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, as part of the Local Summit.

The “Vila” Digital Commercial Neighbourhood project focuses on modernising and enhancing local commerce by providing digital tools that increase businesses’ visibility, bring retailers and consumers closer together and make the town centre more attractive. The initiative also includes digital equipment that improves the visitor experience and connects physical retail spaces with digital channels.

This approach seeks to keep pace with changing consumer habits, creating new opportunities for local businesses while preserving the identity and close community relationships that characterise traditional commerce in Torres Novas.

The award also recognises the work carried out alongside participating businesses, partners and the teams involved in implementing the project. Co-funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), the project is delivered through a consortium with NERSANT – Business Association of the Santarém Region and ADIRN – Association for the Integrated Development of Northern Ribatejo.

This distinction recognises the Municipality of Torres Novas’s investment in the digital transformation of local commerce and reaffirms its commitment to initiatives that stimulate the local economy, support businesses and build a more attractive, dynamic and connected town centre.
