Commemorative Exhibition “50 Years of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic”

From 24 April 2026 to 22 October 2026

Dedicated to constitutionalism in Portugal, this exhibition explores the main Constitutions — fundamental laws that shaped the country’s political, social, and cultural evolution. It brings together documents from the Arquivo Nacional da Torre do Tombo, placing them in dialogue with 20th-century Portuguese literary magazines, examining how the fundamental rights enshrined in 1976 were conceived, debated, and represented over time.

Open until October 22, 2026, the exhibition will also include a parallel programme aimed at diverse audiences — schools, children, young people, families, and the general public — to be announced over the coming months, reinforcing the enduring relevance of the core values of the 1976 Constitution: dignity, freedom, equality, social justice, political pluralism, and democracy.
