Smart parking sensors to improve parking in Torres Novas’ historic centre

The historic centre of Torres Novas will soon benefit from smart parking sensors, as part of the Vila – Digital Neighbourhood project, aiming to make travel quicker, more convenient and more predictable.

This system will provide real-time information on available parking spaces, accessible through a mobile application. Visitors and residents will be able to better plan their trips or easily find parking upon arrival, avoiding unnecessary circulation.

Surface sensors have already been installed in several streets, and the installation of underground sensors in paved areas is currently underway. In total, the project foresees around 600 sensors, progressively covering the entire historic centre.

In addition to making parking easier, this solution promotes higher parking turnover, supports local commerce and contributes to a more organised and sustainable urban environment. The initiative is part of a broader modernisation strategy that uses technology to improve quality of life for those who live, work and visit Torres Novas.
