Dancing Villa, Curitiba Dance Company (Brazil)

From October 31th at 21:30 until October 2th at 22:30

“Dançando Villa” is a show that pays homage to Heitor Villa-Lobos, one of the greatest Brazilian composers, whose work extolled the richness of popular culture, especially from the north and northeast regions of Brazil.

Directed by Nicole Vanoni and choreographed by Rosa Antuña, the show celebrates Brazilian dances with authenticity, reflecting the intersection of African, Indigenous, and European traditions. This cultural fusion is evident both in the rhythms influenced by these heritages and in the artistic expressions that translate a vast repertoire of dances and songs, marked by diversity and historical depth.

“Dançando Villa” is, therefore, a tribute to Brazil’s cultural richness and identity. The Curitiba Dance Company emphasizes that Brazil is a secular country that respects and values all national cultural manifestations. Its objective is not to discuss beliefs, but to present a plurality of themes with respect and dedication, using the language of dance as a form of expression, movement, and connection.
